Installer case study : The Bosch Compress 2000 AWF Heat Pump

Installer case study : The Bosch Compress 2000 AWF Heat Pump

With their traditional Rayburn boiler nearing the end of its life and wanting to bring their Georgian home up to a more efficient standard, an eco-conscious couple from Gloucestershire looked to Worcester Bosch for a long-lasting solution.

Opting for the Compress 2000 AWF heat pump, the homeowners welcomed Olly from Heating Maintenance Services Ltd to install their new source of heating:

“Even period homes in the countryside like this can be excellent candidates for modern heating technology. The homeowners had already improved their windows and loft, which meant higher efficiency rates were well on the table. We removed the Rayburn and the boiler tanks, fitted new pipes up to the top floor airing cupboard, plus filter, volumiser, and controls – and got the heat pump running within a week. The Compress 2000 AWF only requires an outdoor unit, which also means we didn’t have to intrude into their home as much as with other models. There’s a growing demand from customers who want to switch from gas to heat pumps. We expect to be fitting more and more of them in the future.”

As an all-in-one system, the Compress 2000 AWF is one of our quickest and easiest heat pumps to fit. In a modern home, it can be set up and working within a couple of days. Whilst this period home required a little more work, it’s still a very straightforward process for people switching from gas.

“This was our first time fitting a Compress 2000, or any Bosch heat pump for that matter. We’d happily fit more in the future. And with a noticeable increase in interest for heat pumps, it’s almost guaranteed that we will.”

With the homeowners on the hunt for something that would get their home ready for the future and reduce their carbon footprint, the Bosch Compress 2000 AWF was an easy choice. Requiring no planning permission, no indoor unit, and with an A+++ ErP rating*, it was the perfect solution for their period home:

“Even with new pipework and some home modifications, our heat pump was fitted within a week. Our installer has also helped us take advantage of the government grant, which has made it a much cheaper exercise. What we’re most excited about is the peace and quiet this winter. Our old boiler would fire up every few minutes, we’d hear the click-clack ignition on a regular basis, so it’ll be nice to have an almost silent source of heating. Not to mention the feel-good factor of running a home without gas. We see our eco-improvements as investments. We’re investing in the world, but we’re also investing in our home. When we come to sell, we expect a better return in selling it as an eco-friendly period property.”

We’ll be visiting Jan and Richard again in the new year, to hear what their life, bills, and energy consumption is like with a period home heat pump in winter.
