New Electrics Course Provides Knowledge and Skills for Safe Installations
Published: 17-10-2018
- New training course – ‘Basic Electrics for Heating Engineers’ – is now available
- The course covers both theory and practical scenarios to equip installers with the right knowledge and skills to work on electrics when installing and servicing boilers
- The course costs £50 per person and is verified by Logic Certification Ltd
We have launched the ‘Basic Electrics for Heating Engineers’ course to give installers the knowledge and understanding needed to safely navigate electrics when working on boilers.
What will be covered?
Our course covers theory and practical electrical scenarios that an installer may be confronted with, including: how to safely isolate an appliance prior to undertaking a service or repair, how to conduct an earth loop impedance test, the use and measuring of resistances and voltages on a range of components, and the basic checking of components.
What are the entry requirements?
Installers do not need to show any previous experience in order to join the course, but for those who have ACS or OFTEC qualifications the course is particularly suitable as it will expand on this existing electrical knowledge. The course is also appropriate for those on approved apprenticeship schemes.
How is the course assessed?
Completion of the course, which is verified by Logic Certification Ltd, requires installers to pass both theoretical and practical electrical assessments on the subjects covered. The course can be completed in one day at our Worcester and West Thurrock Training Academies.
Nick Fothergill, our National Training Manager, said: “Electrics for those without the required knowledge can be fraught with danger. We’ve therefore developed this course, which covers everything from basic checks, to explanations of the terms used in electrical theory, to provide heating engineers with the knowledge they need to feel confident when installing heating systems. The course will be invaluable to those who routinely find themselves carrying out maintenance and repair work on heating appliances”.
The course costs £50.00 per person. For more information, why not take a look at our dedicated training page? Alternatively, please call 0330 123 0166.
