Home Energy Scotland Loan Scheme "Hugely Encouraging" says Industry Spokesman

- New incentive introduced to encourage home energy improvements in Scotland.
- Programme allows those in Scotland to apply for interest-free loans of up £15,000, with 25% cashback available for a limited time.
- Neil Schofield has praised the scheme, which includes measures ranging from renewables technologies to high efficiency boilers.
Head of External Affairs, Neil Schofield, has praised the practical approach of a new incentive designed to encourage homeowners and landlords in Scotland to make energy and money-saving improvements to their properties.
The Home Energy Scotland Loan scheme makes a total of £34 million in interest-free loans available for a variety of energy efficient improvements in the home. The policy even sets aside selected funds in grants, giving homeowners the opportunity to receive up to 25% of their loan in cashback for a limited time only.
Formed by joining two existing programmes, updates to the scheme now mean consumers can make any changes to their homes at the same time. Alongside a host of renewable technologies, the incentive also includes more widespread measures, such high efficiency gas and oil boilers.
Neil commented: “Combining the two schemes has allowed policy-makers to cut red tape and make more funds available, and this is a common sense tactic which should be commended. It is also hugely encouraging to see Governments including options to reduce the UK’s carbon footprint that do not necessarily require the same radical changes to a property as some alternative forms of heating. This is certainly a scheme manufacturers and installers can get behind and we are very much hopeful that, should the scheme prove a success, we may see similar incentives adopted throughout the UK.”
