Installers spotlight on heat pumps
See how some installers are using heat pumps and achieving net zero heating in their area.
Jimmy O'Donoghue from Jimmy's Plumbing and Heating Ltd, Cornwall
Jimmy has been installing heat pumps for 13 years and typically fits between 10 to 15 heat pumps a year. He’s now installing our 7001iAW and his customers are enjoying them working quietly in their living spaces.
Jimmy’s advice for anyone wanting to start installing heat pumps:
"The vital thing is that the heat loss calculations must be spot on and you need to have the right accreditations if you want to start fitting heat pumps, ensure you’re covered."
On being MCS registered and dealing with the paperwork:
"Being accredited and registered is so important. Firstly, you have to go through an inspection of your work and then get annual inspections thereafter. We definitely recommend having someone on board who can take the admin side of things off your hands where possible so you can focus on doing what you do best."

Simon Marsh from MI Heating & Plumbing Ltd, Bournemouth
Simon took on his first air source heat pump 3 years ago. This opened his eyes to the possibility of heat pumps and how it could help his business. Now he generally fits 5 to 6 heat pumps a year, typically in large, highly insulated, new build homes.
Simon’s advice for anyone wanting to start installing heat pumps:
"I would encourage installers wanting to break into the air source heat pump market, to learn more about the system as a low technology unit – a lot of installers I have spoken to seem to misunderstand this aspect.
‘Through adding air source heat pump installs to your portfolio there are opportunities to be part of the journey to go green and there is a better opportunity with business growth."
"The 7001i was really easy to install with a sleek looking outdoor unit. Additionally, the unit itself is really quiet."
