Worcester Bosch engages next generation with STEM at the FIRST Lego League Festival
Published: 18-07-2024
The Worcester Bosch HQ hosted pupils from four local schools for the West Midlands FIRST Lego League Explore Festival, inspiring them to participate with STEM topics. The initiative aims to address the engineering skills gap by engaging children with science, technology and maths from a young age. This is the second time the company has hosted the festival, following last year’s success which celebrated the parent company Bosch being 125 years old in the UK.
42 children from local schools Nunnery Wood Primary School, Perry Wood Primary School, St Peter's Academy Droitwich and Upton Snodsbury First School participated in the festival and learned the importance of STEM topics. The theme of this year’s event was ‘Masterpiece’ which looked at the connection between technology and the arts. The children learnt how to code robots and created posters on the theme. During the festival, reviewers from the Worcester Bosch STEM visited every team to discuss their projects and award prizes.
As a company, Worcester Bosch has an ongoing commitment to narrowing the skills gap and encouraging the next generation to be involved in the STEM sector, with opportunities including widespread training programmes such as the Cecil Duckworth Apprenticeship scheme.
