Volunteering

We have a long history of volunteering and during 2022 we gave every single one of our 1850 employees one working day to spend volunteering to help a local charity, community, or project. We were delighted to be able to support so many deserving organisations across the country.

During 2023 we are extending this initiative and linking to the Bosch 125 Years in the UK activities.

St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester was one of the recipients of volunteering support. Estates and Facilities Support Manager Nick Harris commented; “We were blown away by the fantastic work done by the team in our gardens. They made such a wonderful difference in just one day!

“Our heartfelt thanks go to the team for helping to keep our gardens looking beautiful for patients and families to enjoy.”

Perdiswell Community Gardens

Perdiswell Community Gardens

PAC1.1, our design team for wall hung boilers, spent the day at Perdiswell community garden. Our lovely host, Laura, put our green fingers to the test with weeding, clearing out allotments, erecting water butts and poly tunnels, finishing a hard day of work with some digging! There was cake, sunshine, good company, and good vibes – it ended up being a very wholesome and enjoyable day.

Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter

Product Team B had a great day at Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter! We helped them out with a lot of spring cleaning jobs, like jet washing and weeding the kennels, tidying up the cattery and building a new storage unit for their excess cat litter. We also got the chance to spend some time with the cats and walk a couple of the dogs.

West Midlands Scouting Association

West Midlands Scouting Association

Members of our Product Reliability team helped out at the West Midlands Scouting Association. The scouting association in this area provides outdoor space for 9 regions helping them to provide fun, adventure and challenges for over 5500 young people. The team spent the day cutting back lots of overgrown vegetation, repaired fencing – tidying and making safe an area that is used by many local groups. Everyone enjoyed the experience and were pleased they had the chance to give back to the local community.

Worcester Animal Rescue Shelter

Our logistics teams visited the shelter on a few occasions and they carried out quite a variation of tasks including walking the dogs,  cat socialising, painting of fence panels, cleaning the facilities and gardening.

Production, Logistics and Marketing team – Ground Clearing

A mixed bag of colleagues teamed up to help local Children’s hospice, Acorns.  With a long history in helping out this wonderful charity the team turned up ready for some hard work in the gardens. They were tasked with clearing an area near the special dandelion garden that had become overgrown. They set about digging, pruning and long wheelbarrow treks to the skip. Acorns said: "Sincere thanks for the hard work effort the team put in today. The difference in the garden is immense.  It would have cost Acorns thousands of pounds to pay for the work you guys have done, so thank you so much. We couldn’t believe that the skip was full!"

Quality and Logistics team – help transport charity

The day was spent helping out at Worcester Wheels – a charity that helps people who can’t use public transport due to mobility difficulties, physical or mental health barriers. The team had a really worthwhile day spent helping to tidy up, painting the site and planting flowers. Staff at Worcester wheels were extremely thankful for the help.

Contact Centre Team - Gardening

A group of colleagues from the Contact Centre went to Perdiswell Community Gardens at Perdiswell Allotments in Worcester. We had an amazing time there and it was great to give it back to the community. We did a lot of weeding and cleared the growth along the fence line of the site and the wildlife area. Planted some plants in the community garden. Painted and decorated 50+ signs for allotments. It was hard work but everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.

Laura from from the community gardens said: "I can not thank you for all enough your hard work, smiles and gardening today! You have transformed the place and I am forever grateful. From digging up weeds, painting signs, getting stung by nettles and making fabulous wheelbarrow sound effects! Please come back and visit us again! Many many many many thanks."

Service Accounts and St Richard’s Hospice

Service Accounts and St Richard’s Hospice

Some of our teams from Service Accounts spent their volunteering days at St Richard’s Hospice – helping out in the Bewdley, Tewskesbury Shops and Worcester shops along with the warehouse in Leigh Sinton. Jobs included sorting donated stock, steaming clothes for sale, and reorganising dresses in the bridal department.

Jill, manager at Tewkesbury, said: “It was a fab day, we all enjoyed working with each other. It was really helpful to me as they were able to assist with a lot of jobs that I struggle keep up with. A great team and a great day!”
